Preanesthetic Evaluation and Preparation for Neurosurgical Procedures: An Indian Perspective

Abstract Background A questionnaire-based survey was conducted to determine the preanesthetic evaluation (PAE) practices among members of Indian Society Neuroanesthesiology and Critical Care (ISNACC). The aimed assess current clinical practice PAE optimization neurosurgical patients in India. Methods An online questionnaire designed by working group ISNACC circulated its active members. Response individual questions considered significant if 50% or more respondents concurred. which less than concurred were identified as inconclusive results. Results Out 438 members, 218 responded. Responses obtained from various parts country. majority participants practicing neuroanesthesiology. Questions asked regarding assessment, preoperative optimization, prognostication, airway management neurosurgery. More practitioners acceded most questions; however, percentage responses varied across different (50–100%). related duplex scanning chronically immobilized patients, cognitive testing, risk stratification during procedures received an response (< 50%). Conclusion highlights variable perused guideline for uniform may help enhance research improve perioperative care.
